Because in the United States, although the fact was much milder than in other countries and there was always a tendency to free the slaves, or at least to feel compassion for them, slavery was an institution commonly accepted as natural, own society and recognized by law. While the story just alluded to such a thorny fact or refers to it with not a few omissions, literature, however, he was interested with passion for this strange "world" of the slave and included it in his very particular universe of fictions and realities aesthetically intertwined, seemingly distant from the surrounding reality, but extremely revealing and certain artistic creation.
